HOW TO GET FROM KEFLAVÍK AIRPORT?
HOW TO GET FROM KEFLAVÍK AIRPORT?
1. PUBLIC TRANSPORT
If you want to save money, use public transport! This is the cheapest way to get from Keflavík Airport. Public transport is provided by the Icelandic company Strætó, which also provides public transport in Reykjavik.
The company operates a total of 12 buses on line 55 on weekdays, 9 buses on Saturdays and 7 buses on Sundays. Warning. Not all of them go to the BSÍ bus terminal in the centre of Reykjavík. Some end their journey in the suburbs of Reykjavík at the Fjörður stop in Fjarðargata Street, 220 Hafnarfjörður. This is also the final stop for all weekend services. Public transport services then connect to Reykjavík city centre.
A public transport bus stop is approximately 5 minutes' walk from the terminal. There are also bus stops right next to the terminal, however these are for private companies Flybus and Airport Direct.
Not counting taxi services, public transport line 55 is the only means of transport that also goes to the centre of Keflavik. The private companies Flybus and Airport Direct go directly to Reykjavik, without any stops.

2. FLYBUS
Flybus is one of the most widely used bus services, providing connections between Keflavík Airport and Reykjavík. It is a popular and convenient option for many travellers to get from the airport to the city centre.
The Flybus runs in line with the arrivals of the planes. This means that the buses leave regularly after each arrival, so you don't have to worry about missing your connection even if your flight is delayed. Departures from Reykjavik back to the airport are also scheduled according to departure times, even in the early morning hours.
Flybus runs in accordance with the arrivals and departures of aircraft
The Flybus departs directly from Keflavík Airport and terminates at Reykjavík's main bus station (BSI Terminal). From here you can use other transport options such as local buses or taxis to arrive directly at your destination. In addition to the main BSI station, Flybus offers a "Flybus Plus" option, where for an additional fee you will be taken directly to your hotel or selected locations in the city.
The journey from the airport to Reykjavik takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. A one-way ticket costs 3 999 ISK. The buses are modern and equipped with Wi-Fi so you can stay online during your journey. Tickets can be bought directly at Keflavík Airport (at Flybus stands), at various points of sale around Reykjavík or online at https://www.re.is/tour/flybus/
3. AIRPORT DIRECT
Airport Direct is another popular carrier offering transfers between Keflavík Airport and Reykjavík. This company provides flexible services and offers several options to suit the needs of passengers.
ECONOMY
PREMIUM
PRIVATE TRANSFER
Both Economy and Premium buses are scheduled to coincide with aircraft arrivals at Keflavík Airport. This means that when you land, there will always be a bus available at short notice. On the return journey from Reykjavík to the airport, departures are scheduled according to departure times, so you can choose the connection that suits you best.
Tickets can be purchased online via the company's website https://airportdirect.is/, or directly at Keflavík Airport. Advance booking is recommended, especially during the tourist season. A one-way ticket starts at 3 390 ISK. There is free Wi-Fi on Airport Direct buses, so you can stay connected to the internet during your trip.
4. TAXI
The taxi service from Keflavík Airport is another convenient but slightly more expensive option to get to Reykjavík, Keflavík or the surrounding cities. Taxis are available right outside the main terminal at Keflavík Airport. You don't have to worry about booking in advance, as taxi services are usually ready on the spot even in case of flight delays.
A taxi from Keflavík Airport to Reykjavík costs approximately 15,000-20,000 ISK, depending on the current traffic and your specific destination in Reykjavík. If you're travelling to closer places, such as Keflavik, the price is significantly lower, around 2,500-3,000 ISK.
If you're travelling with more people, a taxi can be relatively more cost-effective as the price is split between all passengers. Taxi cars are usually standard size, but you can book a larger vehicle if you have a lot of luggage or are travelling with a larger group.
All taxi companies in Iceland accept credit cards, which means you don't need to have cash (although cash is also accepted).
